In the comments, leave me the name of a character and a noun (place, emotion, thing, whatever). You can also specify a 'verse or story, if you'd like - my Masterlist is mostly up to date. It's only missing my RBB and Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner. I'll write you a drabble, somewhere between 100 and 300 words.
I'm apologizing in advance if it takes me a few days to answer prompts.
Prompt away!

Date: 2014-05-02 03:29 am (UTC)Neal finally understood what Peter went through when he used to go undercover. The hours of waiting anxiously, hoping that everything went according to plan and trusting that everyone would come home safely at the end of the day.
But now, Neal was confined to desk duty as he had been since returning to work after his head injury last November and Peter was the one out in the field undercover. Neal had been waiting and waiting for more than 48 hours for his partner to come home safe from an assignment that had gone slightly off the rails.
Diana and Jones were out there with Peter and they were keeping Neal informed as best they could with texts and the occasional quick call but Neal had spent the last two days feeling impotent, restless and stressed. He had paced back and forth in the bedroom the whole previous night while El slept fitfully in the bed that should have held all three of them.
Finally, finally he got the call he had been waiting for, from Peter himself. The bad guy was in custody, the evidence they needed secured and he was on his way back to the office safe and sound.
When Peter came walking through the glass doors of the White Collar offices with Diana and Jones at his side, Neal sighed in happiness tainted with relief and stood up eagerly to greet his lover.
As he rose Neal’s knees went tingly and weak, his vision began to go grey and spotty around the edges, the sounds of the office around him hollowed out and his breath caught in his throat. As his vision continued to darken, Neal fought against it blinking hard, but his body betrayed him and he felt himself tilting toward the ground as everything around him faded to black.
When Neal opened his eyes again just moments later, Peter was hovering over him, worry and fear knitting his brows together. “Neal?”
“Hey Peter,” Neal replied softly, smiling in an attempt to alleviate Peter’s concern. “I’m okay.”
“You collapsed. You’re not okay,” Peter countered.
Neal pushed himself upright. Peter tried for a moment to keep Neal flat on the linoleum, but Neal brushed his hand away with his own and a defiant look. “I didn’t collapse. I had a syncope and I’m fine, really. I just stood up too fast.”
Peter scowled but took the hand Neal offered and helped his partner slowly up to his feet. “A what?”
“A syncope. I fainted. Passed out. Got horizontal momentarily.”
Neal’s stance was steady, his eyes were clear and focused and his speech seemed okay, but Peter didn’t want to let go of Neal’s hand.
Neal squeezed their entwined fingers. “I’m really okay. It was nothing more than a lack of sleep and too much bad office coffee.”
Peter nodded, willing himself to accept Neal’s words at face value. “Okay. Then let’s go home and get some sleep.”
“That sounds like a much better reason to get horizontal.”
